HOLD THE DATE The MANDATORY Student Teaching Kick Off meeting for Fall 2021 will be held August 18, 2021. Attendance is a requirement for Student Teaching in Fall 2021.

Full year placement Extended placements are the goal, but cannot be guaranteed. Remaining in your CPII placement for Student Teaching is contingent on the following: Passing grades in all coursework District permission The mentor teacher agrees to continue the placement

Applying for Student Teaching If you would like to remain in your CPII placement, then: Please email me your intentions to remain in your current placement for student teaching by April 9, 2021. Please include the address where you will be residing for Student Teaching in the event that your current placement is not available for student teaching. K-6 candidates who want to student teach in middle school If you are an elementary candidate in a middle school placement and wish to stay for student teaching, you must have 15 credits in the subject area AND pass the Praxis II in the middle school subject area before April 1, 2021 for Fall 2022 student teaching.

District Requirements Your district may require you to archive your fingerprints, obtain your sub certification, produce your TB test results, or interview before your placement is finalized. This is not unusual. Every district has a different policy and you are a guest in their house now.

Substitute certificate Several districts require sub certification for student teaching. You will complete student teaching long before your certification is processed by the state. If you have your sub cert, you may begin working the day after you complete your student teaching requirements. If you do not get your sub cert- you may miss out on a placement opportunity and/or a job opportunity. Notification about your placement… As soon as I receive confirmation from the district, I will notify you of your placement.

Starting your hours Some of you may need to complete your CPII/100 hours before starting your student teaching hours. With permission from your clinical instructor, Back to School PD that you attend may be counted towards remaining hours If you did not carry over any CPII hours, you may begin your hours at the start of the Fall semester.
