Applying for Fieldwork The link to your fieldwork application will be emailed to you by SOE@Stockton. edu. You may want to meet with your preceptor first to confirm you’re prepared for CP II. The application is short and should only take 3 minutes to complete. FIELDWORK APPLICATIONS HAVE NONNEGOTIABLE DEADLINES! These deadlines are in place to ensure enough time to get you board approved and able to start your hours right away. Completing Your CPII & Final Clinical Fieldwork Application • You will complete a single application for CPII and Student Teaching. • Although never a guarantee, the goal is to develop a strong working relationship with your mentor teacher and remain in your CPII placement for your Final Clinical Practice. • Sometimes mentor teachers or districts opt out of hosting student teachers, you move, mentor teacher retire, etc. , in which case, you will complete an application for Change of Placement during Fall Precepting. • Districts require the following information: your telephone number, address (Please use the address where you will be residing so that you are placed in a school relatively close by), area(s) of certification, and preferred grade levels. • Please complete ALL fields and remember to click submit.

K-6 candidates who want to student teach in middle school If you are an

K-6 candidates who want to student teach in middle school If you are an Elementary candidate in a middle school placement and wish to remain for student teaching, you must have: Completed 15 credits in the subject area Passed the Praxis II in the middle school subject area before October 1, 2021 for Spring 2022 student teaching.

Additional District Requirements Your district may require you to: archive your fingerprints, obtain your sub certification, produce new TB test results, complete a physical, or complete an interview before your placement is finalized. This is not unusual. Each district has their own policy and as a guest in their house, you are expected to comply.

Dress code: Professional Attire An example dress code for teaching faculty and fieldwork includes: Collared Shirts and Ties Blazers/Jackets/Sweaters when the weather dips below 70 degrees Knee length or longer skirts and dresses Think Conservative! No open toe shoes, cutout tops, short skirts, tank tops, spaghetti string straps, yoga pants, or crop tops. Please make sure clothing is clean and wrinkle free.

Remember that as a student teacher, you will be expected to assume the role of the classroom teacher; lesson planning, implementing a preexisting behavior management system, and collaborating with your mentor teacher. If it’s not a good fit, we need to talk!
