FIELD OFFICE TECHNICAL GUIDE (FOTG) UPDATE ENGINEERING STANDARDS

FOTG UPDATE • Policy states that each conservation standard will be reviewed/updated every five years. • We’ve been working to get each standard reviewed and up to date. • For “one shining moment” in 2014, all Kentucky engineering standards were considered up to date.

FOTG UPDATE • That “shining moment” lasted about a week. • National Headquarters is in the process of issuing 3 new conservation practice standards, revising 26 and deleting 3.

FOTG UPDATE • New standards: • On-Farm Secondary Containment Facility (code 319) • Short Term Storage of Animal Waste and Byproducts (Code 318) • Wildlife Structure (Code 649) • There is still some discussion on how many, if any, of these NRCS Kentucky will add to the FOTG.

FOTG UPDATE • Deleted standards: • Land Reclamation, Currently Mined Lands (Code 544) • Land Reclamation, Toxic Discharge Control (Code 455) • Trails and Walkways (Code 568) • However, there is still a “Trails and Walkways” standard.

FOTG UPDATE • Animal Trails and Walkways (Code 575) was combined with Trails and Walkways and the combination kept the Trails and Walkways name and the Animal Trails and Walkways practice code number.
