• In the first session with Robert Pepperell we looked at when we look at paintings and drawings, most people tend to look at the same areas. There seems to be a focus point in all paintings and drawings. Something draws the eyes of the viewer. which i found very interesting. in some cases the focus point seems to be the lighting of the painting.

This painting called the entombment by Rembrandt show three areas with light with rest nearly all darkness. I think this is a clever tool the artist can use to engage what the viewer focuses on, what the artists wants them to look at. Here I think the focus point Rembrandt wanted the most is the man laying down with everyone looking at him in the surrounded dark area. Due to it also being the lightest area in the painting it also is the most detailed and most impressive area. This is want i want to start applying to my own artwork in the field of illustration. Thinking about the drawing more, where i want the viewer to look.

Looking at artists such as Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch. Exploring their minds thinking about what factors make them an individual such as, their upbringing, mental health, religion and effects in life. Then how it affected their art work.
