FFA History 1917 - The Smith Hughes National Vocational Educational Act establishes agriculture courses. ● 1926 - Future Farmers of Virginia was organized for boys in Ag. Courses. ● 1928 - Future Farmers of America formed by 33 students from 18 different states. ● ● California was the 4 th state to be chartered.
FFA History 1929 - The official colors (National Blue and Corn Gold) are adopted. ● 1930 - Membership is restricted to boys only. ● 1930 - The creed was written by E. M Tiffany and adopted by the FFA. ● ● 1933 - The blue corduroy jacket and
FFA History 1934 - New Farmers of America, an organization of African- American boys interested in Agriculture was formed. ● 1944 - National FFA Foundation was formed. Today, the foundation raised over 7. 3 million dollars. ● ● 1947 - National FFA Band was formed ● 1948 - First International Exchange
FFA History 1952 - The national Future Farmer magazine was first published. ● 1953 - President Eisenhower visits at the national FFA Convention. The U. S. Post Office issues a special stamp to commemorate the founding of the FFA. ● 1955 -FFA went international with organizations forming in Japan, Brazil, Columbia, Korea, Mexico, Panama, Philippines and Thailand. ●
FFA History 1965 - New Farmers of America merges with the FFA, adding 50, 000 members. ● 1969 - Women are allowed national membership, which allowed them to hold office and compete in events. ● 1971 - The national FFA Alumni Association was established ●
FFA History 1988 - Delegates at the National FFA Convention changed “Future Farmers of America” to the “National FFA Organization”. ● 1989 - The name of the offical FFA magazine is changed to FFA New Horizons. ● President George Bush addresses the 64 th National FFA Conference. ● ● 2002 - Celebrate the 75 th national FFA Convention

The Plow Symbol of labor and tillage of the soil. ●
The Owl Symbolizes wisdom and knowledge. ●
The Lettering The words “Agricultural Education“ surround the letters “FFA. ” This tells us that FFA is an important part of agriculture programs. ●
