FEMINIST PEDAGOGY Underscoring feminist pedagogy is the belief
FEMINIST PEDAGOGY • Underscoring feminist pedagogy is the belief in creating classrooms that are participatory and collaborative. It challenges the notion that knowledge is something to be “delivered” as in Paulo Freire’s “banking metaphor” of education. (Pedagogy of the Oppressed. ) • If feminist pedagogy challenges the notion that knowledge is something that we deliver, it must do so in all settings- technology can’t dictate our pedagogy. • First we must decide on the pedagogical framework and then bring technology into the framework. • Nancy Chick and Holly Hassel in “Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Virtual” (Feminist Teacher, vol 19, no. 3, 2009)
