Disaster Assistance Employee DAE l Hiring authority authorized by the Stafford Act (PL 93 -288 5149) l Presidential declared emergencies

DAE – Description & Key Requirements l Hire authority delegated to regions & hdqtrs l Only used to perform DAE related work: specific disasters, emergencies, projects, or activities of a non-continuous nature l Requires SF-52 and supporting documentation for hiring l Individual must meet qualifications for the position

DAE – Description & Key Requirements l Two l types of DAE’s Local Hire l 120 day appointment l l l May be renewed for additional 120 days Salaries set at prevailing local rates Reservists – activated when need arises l On FEMA personnel roles for 24 months l l Expires 9/30 of every even numbered year May not exceed 18 months in 24 month period
