FELDMAN’S METHOD OF ART CRITICISM LUCI HALL ARTWORK NAME- MY DREAM ROOM

EVALUATION ONEDESCRIPTION In the artwork I can recognize cats (3) around the room. There is also a cat tower and a food bowl for the cats. The crease/corner of the room is sort of centered, based off of the reference points. The medias used were colored pencil and pencil. The design of the piece seems to be nonrealistic and cartoony.

EVALUATION TWOANALYSIS I think the emphasis in this artwork is on the desk and window. The artwork is sort of balanced because there’s different pieces of furniture on both sides of the room, like a desk on one, and the cabinet on the other. Movement is demonstrated in the still artwork with the cat reaching up to hit the cat tower. I think the rug is to tie together, or unify the two sides in the room because its in the middle and not to close to each side. I think the proportions in the drawing are mostly ideal except the ladder.

EVALUATION THREEINTERPRETATION When I first looked at the artwork I saw a colorful and neat room with three animals. I think the art is trying to make you feel peaceful. The statement for the art was “my dream room” so it’s a drawing sort of like a fantasy. The artwork relates to other ideas in the world because I currently have a desk next to my window in my room and three cats in my house. The work reminds me of furniture from Ikea.

EVALUATION FOURJUDGEMENT I think the style of the work is cartoonish and it succeeded at that. If the artwork was supposed to be realistic it did not work. I think the art is slightly unique because of the cats but the rest is sort of normal. I think to improve the artwork I could have made the colors blended better and more vibrant. I think it also could be better if there was less pencil marks. Overall I think the art is good
