Federico Severino nasceu em Franciacorta, província de Brescia, Itália, em 1953. Desde os 12 anos, ele frequentava o estúdio do escultor de Domenico de Lusetti. Severino fez graduaçãoem Filosofia e, simultaneamente, era um autodidata na Arte e na Escultura. Dedicou-se à escultura em terracota e bronze, com obras em que a reflexão filosófica e a intuição poética, a Arte e a Filosofia, História e Religião são baseadas para representar o drama da condição humana, juntamente com a esperança cristã. Em 1974, ele surgiu com sua primeira exposição individual. Sua linguagemartística reflete tanto a capacidadecriativa quanto um fundo cultural. Severino representa muitas vezes figuras mitológicase religiosas, incorporando uma relação entre o real e o imaginário. Suas esculturasabrangemtanto o dramático como o grotesco, o trágico e o irônico.
Entre seus trabalhos estão as quatorze estações da “Via Crucis”, colocadas nas pilastras da Basílica “Santa Maria ad Martires” (Pantheon), em Roma, e trinta e quatro esculturasde bronze em alto relevo: “Viaggionell’Inferno di Dante”, que são expressas por meio de nus que, muitas vezes, aparecem abandonados, em posições agachadas, exibindo bocas amplamente abertas pelo espanto, mostrando rostos angustiados que expressam o verdadeiro drama da condição humana. Biography: Federico Severino was born in Franciacorta, province of Brescia, Italy, in 1953. Since he was 12 years old, he attended the studio of the sculptor Domenico de Lusetti. Severino graduatedin Philosophy and, at the same time, he was an autodidact in Art and Sculpture. He devoted himself to sculpture in terracotta and in bronze, with works in which the philosophical reflection and poetic intuition, the Art and the Philosophy, History and Religion are based to represent the drama of human condition, together with the Christian hope. In 1974, he appeared with his first solo exhibition. His artistic language reflects as much his creative skill as a deep cultural background. Severino often depicts mythologicaland religious figures, incorporating a relationship between the real and the imaginary. Among his works are the fourteen stations of the “Via Crucis”, placed on the pilasters of the Basilica “Santa Maria ad Martires” (Pantheon) in Rome, and thirty four bronze sculptures in high-relief: “Viaggio nell’Inferno di Dante”, that are expressed through nudes which, many times, appear abandoned in squattingpositions, showing amazed wide open mouths, showing anguished faces that express the real dramaof the human condition.
