Federation Health WASH Wat. San/EH Stockholm World Water Week PNS WASH Advisors Meeting Theme: Developmental WASH, GWSI, SDG’s, Harmonisation and RM An Overview www. ifrc. org Saving lives, changing minds.
Federation Health WASH Wat. San/EH Developmental WASH: Where we are at present? • GWSI Initial Target trebled since 2005 – over 15 M people reached (Water & Sanitation) and a further 6. 5 Million (HP). • IFRC and membership reach about 1. 5 million people annually and increasing. • New target to reach 2 million per year by 2020. Over 30 million by 2025. • Over 90% is rural WASH. • Over 75% is bilateral. (See GWSI Mapping Analysis for more data) www. ifrc. org Saving lives, changing minds.
Federation Health WASH Wat. San/EH Developmental WASH – Needs & Challenges: • Need for more evidence based studies. • Can we share more project reports, evaluations and studies? • GWSI Mapping captures limited data, how should we improve? • Draft GWSI/SDG criteria and marking, is this a good way forward? • Where are we on targeting – what should the drivers be? • WASH ‘harmonisation’ does the ‘Flagship’ concept note make sense? • Should we promote more bilateral/multilateral consortia and can we reduce RM internal competition and improve RM information sharing? www. ifrc. org Saving lives, changing minds.
