TALPA NOTAMs The Runway Condition Assessment (RCAM) Matrix, as seen in the Aeronautical Information Manual, et al: Ø Assigns a Code Number (Runway Condition Code or Rwy. CC) to each third of the runway. Ø Contaminants are broken down for each runway segment. Ø No more Mu Numbers? Ø Is there a relationship between the Rwy. CC and Braking Action? Braking Action Reports… Please! • Your Braking Action Report is an invaluable form of PIREP. • PIREPs are a highly “perishable” item. • They enable adjustment of the RCC numbers, AFIS updates and improvement of the RCAM Matrix itself (maybe).
