*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Dear Lord, bless all those everywhere who contribute to shape the hearts, minds, and bodies of young people.
Too often we do not remember what they have taught and apply it daily. When facing deceit and dishonesty, we have not always been Trustworthy.
We have not always been Helpful where disregard of others and mere materialism prevail. In an atmosphere of ill manner, we have often failed to be Courteous.
Holy God, we have failed at times to be Kind and Obedient when lawbreaking and rule-scoffing are common. We ask your strength, Holy God, so while others grumble
and grouch, we will be Cheerful; in an environment blighted by waste and extravagance, let us be Thrifty. When confronted with danger and temptation, let us be Brave.
As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean. In short Gracious God, in a world that has for generation after generation lamented the lack of good examples,
let us stand out, grow up, and be real adults. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)
ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Sisters and brothers in Christ, God is abundant in love and plenteous in mercy. Delight in God’s faithfulness— for we are a forgiven people.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON P: Thanks be to God! Amen.
CHOIR ANTHEM “Come, Share the Lord” ~Leech/Tabell
PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 8: 3 -9
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.
You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 5: 13 -16
You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.
No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!

RESPONDING TO THE WORD JOYS AND CONCERNS MOMENT FOR REFLECTION: “In Scouting, I am thankful for…” PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

*HYMN #516 “Lord, We Have Come” v. 1 Yours is the strength that sustains dedication, Ours a commitment we know never ends.
*THE GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING L: May God the Creator, God the Redeemer, God the Healer be with you. P: And also with you. L: Lift up your hearts! P: We lift them to the Lord! L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
P: It is right to give God thanks and praise. L: It is indeed right to give you our thanks and praise, Merciful God, for into this troubled world you break forth with the Light of Love and Redemption. Though we choose to embrace the disobedience of sin,
still you come to us with good news of your mercy and love. When we forget the good way of being dutiful to you, you remember us and look upon us with favor by sending prophets, unexpected angels and even your own Son, Jesus. Therefore, with angels and all the other hosts of heaven, we stand in awe before you to join their chorus of praise:
P: Holy, holy Lord, God of love and hope, heaven and earth are full of your glory and love. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. L: In sending Jesus the Christ, the obedient one, you revealed to all how your love works.
He obeyed you by preaching, teaching, restoring, and redeeming. He brought healing everywhere he went. He put total trust in you – trust even unto death. For that we are deeply thankful. So, here in this holy time of celebration, here at the sacred feast prepared for us, we would speak of that mystery we call faith:
P: We remember Christ’s death; We remember Christ’s resurrection; We remember Christ will come again in glory. L: God of Love, let your Holy Spirit move in power and love over us and over these earthly gifts of bread and wine. By our sharing of them may we experience the mystery of the
true communion of the body and blood of Christ, and may we be strengthened to follow him and carry his healing to all who are in need.
The Lord’s Prayer (unison) Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
WORDS OF INSTITUTION
L: On the night he was arrested, while they were eating, Jesus reached over, took some bread, gave thanks to God. Then he broke it, and gave it to his disciples and told them, “Take this and eat it. This is my body, given for you. Do this remembering me and my example. ”
In the same way he took the cup from the table, and said, “This cup I have here is the new covenant, new hope, which will be sealed in my blood, which I will shed for you for the forgiveness of your sins. Whenever you drink it, remember me. ”
Jesus tells us boldly: “I am the bread of life. If any of you come to me, you won’t be hungry; if any of you believe in me, you will never be thirsty. ” Friends, every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the saving death of the risen Lord until he comes – and you experience the grace of God.
SHARING OF THE BREAD AND CUP Distribution of the Bread (bread is gluten free) (to symbolize our common experience of God’s grace, please retain the bread until all have been served).
SHARING OF THE BREAD AND CUP Distribution of the Cup (to symbolize our individual experience of God’s grace, please drink the cup as it is served).
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION All: Gracious God, we give you thanks for satisfying our longing hearts with this holy meal shared in the Spirit with Jesus, your Son, our Lord.
Strengthened and refreshed, we go from here to be his disciples in the world through sincere worship, faithful witness and service to others, shaped by unconditional love.
This we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
