February 2021 Happy children are successful children
Welcome to our Values assembly A value is a principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. It helps us to be the best person we can be.
How did exploring the value of CONFIDENCE guide your thinking and behaviour?
In FEBRUARY, we will be exploring the value of FRIENDSHIP

What would you look for in a new friend? How could you show you were a good friend?
Qualities of a good friend A friend should be: 1) Honest 2) A good listener 3) Trustworthy 4) Encouraging 5) Caring 6) Gives you compliments and makes you feel good about yourself
Let’s see what some children think make a good friend.
Play with others. Share with others. Be kind to everyone
Cheers you up when you are sad. Listen to others. Make others laugh. Help others
Maintaining Friendships are very special and can make us feel very happy. But sometimes, they take a great deal of work to maintain! Tryatops I try my best and never give up Stickasaurus I stick at tasks and persevere
Maintaining Friendships Sometimes: • You will have other priorities and not see each other as much) • You will disagree and argue (e. g. what game to play or what music to listen to) • You will disappoint each other (e. g. if you forget to say happy birthday or play with someone else) • You might be jealous of what they have (e. g. if they have passed a test or if they get what you wanted for Christmas).
Maintaining Friendships 1. Make an effort - Spend time together - Call them 2. Show them you care - Tell them how special they are to you - Remember important dates (their birthday)
Maintaining Friendships 3. Be understanding - If they make a mistake, forgive them. - If they let you down, think about how they feel and forgive them. 4. If you make a mistake, apologise 5. Encourage your friends to succeed - Think about how you’d want them to treat you
Final thought … We can show FRIENDSHIP to people who we know and love. We can also show FRIENDSHIP to people who we are just getting to know.
A quiet moment of prayer or reflection. . . FRIENDSHIP
As we reflect, think about how FRIENDSHIP makes the world a better place to be.
A prayer for all of us Here in our school Let us be peaceful at all times. Let our rooms be full of friendship And respect for each other. Let love be in our hearts With kindness and compassion for all. Let us remember In learning together, We grow together And succeed together.
