Feast of Passover • Passover is a one-day event … it is followed by the 7 -day Feast of Unleavened Bread – the Feast of Firstfruits is celebrated on Day 3. • It commemorates and celebrates God’s deliverance of Israel out of slavery in the land of Egypt (Exodus 12: 14).
Feast of Passover • The Lord sent Moses to lead the people out of bondage in Egypt to the promised land. • When first confronted by Moses, Pharaoh refused to let the people go. • Nine plagues later – blood, frogs, gnats, flies, livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness – he still would not relent. • “But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart …” (Exodus 10: 27)
Feast of Passover • Number 10 was the big one: the death of all the firstborn. • “each man is to take a lamb for his family … without defect … slaugher them at twilight … take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the door frames. ” (Exodus 12: 3 -7) • “and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. ” (Exodus 12: 13)

Feast of Passover • Unleavened bread: matzah. • Yeast-free, with stripes and pierced. • Isaiah 53: 5 • Matzah Tash – a bag with 3 compartments each holding one bit of unleavened bread – a reminder of the three persons in the Trinity.
