It’s a Piece About our Profession Kylian’s choreographic style dominantly focuses on issues that occur within our society. Falling Angel’s (1989) is a work about femineity and is one of six works from his ‘Black and White Ballets’. In Year 12, you will be studying another work from this series, Sarabande (1990), which looks at masculinity. Each work in this series has a minimalistic approach with setting, however sends a very powerful message.

Context Kylian’s work Falling Angels depicts how females in this time aimed for perfection but faced with various stages to the human female psyche and aspects of ambition, seduction, pregnancy, birth, death, motherhood and selfawareness. What do you think this image could suggest?

Applying your knowledge so far… Using descriptive language – dot point what you see and interpret from this image.
