Data Teams The data team members must: • Be seen as leaders. • Be

Data Teams The data team members must: • Be seen as leaders. • Be willing to learn about data in depth. • Must have skills in collaboration, communication, and leadership. The functions of the data team are: • To develop expertise on data. • To share data information with staff members of the schools. • To assist is setting up support systems at the schools. • To create and complete action plans based on the data. The data team members need: • Information about systems to support data based decision making. • Training in the problem solving process. Data team members should be expected to: • Meet regularly as a team to develop a plan to establish using data to improve student performance. • Have conversations about student achievement. • Show examples of successful schools. • Set up a system that supports the collection and use of student data. • Help staff members understand how to use student data to guide decision making. • Work to secure commitment from staff 5

District School Improvement Committee Pillars Mission: Clear Purpose Vision: Compelling Future Values: Collective Commitments Goals: Targets, Strategies & Objectives To develop a district school improvement process that provides a cohesive, data based approach, which supports the needs of the students in each building. To ensure that all schools in Linden work collaboratively and that their focus in on student achievement and improving our schools in all aspects of the educational system. -Communication -Collaboration -Consensus -All stakeholders -Teaching & Learning - Research-based instruction - Cyclical improvement in Goal 1: All students will increase proficiency in writing Strategy 1: Develop and implement units to correspond to district's year long plan Strategy 2: K-8 teachers will implement writer's workshop Strategy 3: A common/shared language will be implemented and developed for staff and students our schools Goal 2: All students will increase proficiency in mathematics Goal 3: All schools will implement a Building School Improvement Committee (BSIC) with appropriate representation that functions as a steering committee to implement DSIC goals at the building level. Goal 4: TBD DSIC 2009 – 2010 Establish Tasks & Prioritize: -Approve math goal, strategies and assessment -Ensure that all BSIC/s support the DSIC Goals -Develop purpose for BSIC as a system to promote their school (newsletters, podcasts. . . ) -Monitor MDE school improvement indicators & their implementation in our school district
