• This service provides young people from 3 – 18 years with the ability to access Information Communication Technology as their needs require. • Referral to the service should be made where the Team Around the Child (TAC) feel that ICT support is required. • A referral to the service is made by completing an ICT ASL coversheet and Child’s Plan Form 2. In addition to this a Child’s Action Plan (Form 4) and a Record of Meeting (Form 6) must be included. • Each referral is assessed by a panel. This usually consists of an ASL Adviser (myself), a Principal Teacher of Pupil Support and a Support for Learning Teacher.
What types of support does the service provide? • The ICT ASL Service provides support to young people in the form of software and hardware, alongside the associated training. • Consultation with young people and staff to best establish the needs of the young person. • Training for staff in regard to software developments, such as the use of Glow, Office 365 and Clicker 7. • Disambiguation of government acts/legislation which affect the way in which we support young people with additional support needs. • Consultation with school leadership teams to resolve challenges in regard to ASN. • Guidance documents/blog to support schools, for example, SEEMi. S and Scot. Xed. • Transition support for children and ICT moving from primary to secondary provision.
