Steps to Factoring a Monomial: 1. Can you find an integer that divides evenly

Steps to Factoring a Monomial: 1. Can you find an integer that divides evenly into all of the terms? If so… • Divide all of the terms by that integer, and bring it in front of your parenthesis. 2. Are there any variables that are repeated in all of the terms? If so, • Divide each of the terms by the repeated variable with the smallest exponent. 3. Is there anything else I can divide evenly into the polynomial? If so, then repeat steps 1 -3. If not, then you are finished!

Factoring Monomial How To • Check the COEFFIECENTS of each TERM to see if

Factoring Monomial How To • Check the COEFFIECENTS of each TERM to see if there is a Common Factor • If they are all EVEN, then 2 is one • Divide the smallest coefficient into the 2 larger ones: if it divides evenly then that is the Greatest Common Factor • The GCF might be 1 • See if all the TERMS have any like variables. • If they are LIKE, then see what is the largest that all of the TERMS have Example •
