History US Perspective The Beginning: Late 1970’s Prior to 70’s non professional 70’s Changing Business Climate: the emergence of the white collar workers, the advent of the computer technology the turning point of Industrial Society to Information Age, i. e. , manual work to computerised work; new tools, new skills, new space requirements Formation of FMI (Facility Management Institute) founded by Herman Miller, Inc. in 1979, new approach in managing the work process and workplace, paving the way for the establishment of IFMA.
