Eyes that see not… Ears that hear not “Men love human philosophies which they regard as light. Doctrines are proclaimed and approved by men which are but fables of human devising. To such “fire-raisers” God says: ‘Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow’ (Isa. 50: 11). The sparks quickly die out, and men sink into darkness, lying down at last in sorrow for an eternal sleep. Both these followers and rejecters of the Divine light have a similar place in the teaching of Jesus: ‘I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness; and if any man hear my words and believe not, I judge him not. . . the word that I have spoken shall judge him in the last day’ (John 12: 46 -48). ”
