What is EPQ? EPQ is an independent research project you can complete in Y

What is EPQ? EPQ is an independent research project you can complete in Y 12. It is worth half an A-Level and up to 70 UCAS points. It gives you the opportunity to stretch yourself academically and learn more about an area of research that interests you. EPQ is well-regarded by universities and has helped many CBA students get into their first choice university. “Working on an EPQ encourages students to develop research and academic skills relevant to undergraduate study…you will be a more convincing applicant if you can demonstrate breadth of reading and independent research into your chosen subject. ” Oxford University

What’s involved? - Choose a question (on any subject you like) that you want

What’s involved? - Choose a question (on any subject you like) that you want to answer - Keep an Activity Log (like a study diary) of everything you do - Research your question - Write a 5, 000 - 6, 000 word dissertation (essay) answering your question - Give a short presentation about your findings to a small audience Throughout Y 12, students completing an EPQ will have weekly lessons to guide them through the process.

Tip 2 Keep track of which research sources you’ve used. You’ll need this information later! Join the public library as a virtual member here and get access to 1000 s of online books, newspapers and magazines. Ted Talks are short video lectures delivered by subject experts. There are talks available on thousands of different subjects.
