The Spanish, French, Dutch and English explored the American continents and established colonies there. European traded with colonists as part of the Columbian trade. Goods, ideas, inventions and even people and diseases were traded across the Atlantic Ocean. This was the beginning of a “global economy. ” Unfortunately, during this time Native Americans were mistreated and their population greatly declined. SUMMARY
