S. in Telecom 3+ years in LAN administration and 2+ years in Programming n TWNIC experience n n New member, Joined on June. 4 2001 Had received basic hostmaster training from IP Dept. Manager n n The role of TWNIC in global and domestic Internet societies Knowledge of TWNIC policies and procedures on managing resource requests

Objectives 1. To gain knowledge on efficient IP resource management n n In charge of IP resource requests from TWNIC members Helping the Internet society to conserve and aggregate IP addresses 2. To be familiar with APNIC allocation policies and procedures n n Minimizing the difference between TWNIC and APNIC on request evaluation Shortening future request iteration

Week 1 -2. 5 n HM Introduction – by all hostmasters APNIC website n Membership procedure, questionnaire n HM tools (Unix and Windows) n HM Demonstrations q Very helpful to settling into the HM work n § Self-reading § APNIC policies (APNIC-076…) § RFCs (2050, 1930, 1918) § HM training guide

Week 1 -2. 5 (Cont. ) § Individual training - by Training Manager § Internet Registry Policy § Requests (ISP, Second Opinion, AS) § APNIC Database § In-addr. arpa Delegation § Ipv 6 Overview § Advance ISP Address request q Very effective for building fundamental HM knowledge base q Excellent quality

Week 2. 5 -5 n Hands-on and consultation - by Senior IRAs Started from second-opinion, ASN, then ISP requests. n Feedbacks obtained from experienced IRAs q Very useful as I got different valuable inputs and opinions which broadened my knowledge q Had no opportunity to deal with NIR request <- Time constraint n n Assistance from Hms from time to time - by all hostmasters n Instant solution to my questions and problem on member requests

Workload n Week 2. 5 -3: Slightly too light n n Week 4: A little heavy n n more and harder requests to deal with Week 5: No much work n q simple 2 nd opinion and AS requests finishing up ongoing requests Probably can be more balanced <- Time constraint

Suggestions n Training materials n n Longer training period n n Better longer than 5 weeks Consistency of Documentations n n Could be provided earlier New form and old form More stable network n Due to server upgrade
