EXPECT GREAT THINGS FROM GOD ATTEMPT GREAT THINGS FOR HIM By: Bobby Quitain
Why should we expect great things from God? 1. It is His nature to bless. “Even if we are unfaithful, He remains faithful because He cannot deny Himself. ” (2 Timothy 2: 13) “…He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous…” (Matthew 5: 45)
Why should we expect great things from God? 2. He is faithful to His promises. “…I have come that you may have life, and have it abundantly…” (John 10: 10) “…So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty…” (Isaiah 55: 11)
Why should we expect great things from God? 3. He wants His love to overflow to others. God will bless you so you can bless others.
The call to be generous… And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. "
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! – 2 Corinthians 9: 8 -15
The warning to the greedy… "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. " ' "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? '
"This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God. " – Luke 12: 18 -21
How can we attempt great things for God? 1. Enlarge your vision of God. Victory is determined not by the size of your challenge but by the size of your God. What you can achieve for God is only as good as your faith in Him.
"According to your faith, it will be done unto you. " (Mt. 9: 29) “For nothing is impossible with God. ” (Luke 1: 37) “. . the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world…” (1 John 4: 4)
How can we attempt great things for God? 2. Enlarge your vision of yourself. “You were fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139: 14) If God trusts you with something, he must have seen something in you that you have not seen in yourself.
How can we attempt great things for God? 3. Incorporate your vision in your daily dialogue. Your words today must conform with your dreams tomorrow. What you tell yourself, you make yourself. What you listen to, you become.
The Hemorrhaging Woman… She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed. " – Matthew 9: 21
How can we attempt great things for God? 4. Take risks and make commitments. The greatest achievements begin with the greatest risks. “…For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it…” (Matthew 16: 25)
How can we attempt great things for God? 5. Be on call. God does not only want you to be serving, but he wants you to be servants. Serving is an act. Servanthood is a disposition. “…Let your belts be fastened around your waists and your lamps be burning ready…” (Luke 12: 35) = Giving a retreat for district servants.
