The Metamorphosis The novella The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka in an existentialist story written in 1915. It is often used in schools and universities to to study the idea of existentialism. This is a popular literary example of existentialism because the main character, gregor samsa, devotes most of his entire life to work and his family, and asks for nothing in return, none of the rest of his family work, so when he is somehow transformed into a beetle-like creature, he and his family realize that he had become ignorant of his surroundings, the family then had to get jobs of their own while Gregor laid in bed, letting others take care of him. This is because he became, in a way, lazy. He would set a time to get out of bed yet when the time came he ignored it and didn't move. The family and community soon found him to be a burden to them and he starved to death in his bedroom. The problems that stem from this transformation make the family realize that they can fix their own problems, this is the basis of existential belief.

Absurdism is a philosophical thought stating that the efforts of humanity to find inherent meaning will ultimately fail (and thus are absurd) because the vast amount of information as well as the vast realm of the unknown make total certainty impossible. As a human is looking for meaning within the meaningless world they have three solutions to the dilemma at hand. https: //ravenseniors. wikispaces. co m/AP+TS+2013+Absurdism
Solutions Suicide- this solution is the act of someone taking their own life, this does not counter the absurd but is rather more absurd due to the act of ending your own existence. Religious, Spiritual, or abstract belief in a realm, being, or idea of transcendence. This solves the dilemma by believing in the existence of reality that is beyond the absurd which allows it to have meaning. This to philosophers is usually labeled as “philosophical suicide”. Acceptance- The last solution to absurdism is accepting the absurd and keeps on living life in spite of the absurd. This solution had mixed reactions from philosophers as some saw this as the best solution and the greatest extent of freedom someone could have, others saw this solution as “demoniac madness”.
Absurdism & Franz Kafka The thought of absurdism was seen in many of Franz Kafka’s works such as the Metamorphosis and the Trial. Franz Kafka was seen as an existentialist or an absurdist by philosophers. Franz Kafka was never classified as a disciplined writer but rather he wrote about his observations and to him the world was absurd.
Existentialism This represents Existentialism because it shows that you are only represented by your History and actions. Your history is you and that what people see.
