Project Overview • Create a peripheral for gaming systems that requires exercise to function • Requires peddling or stepping type motion for the controller to work • Doesn’t disconnect controller from system • Has to be useable in the sitting position
Project Background • Parents cannot motivate their kids to exercise • Kids willing to game but not exercise • Some of the kids have disabilities that make it difficult to exercise
Sponsor • Proposed by Marshall Summar • Associate Professor in Pediatrics who is specialized in dealing with disabled children • Ken Roberts • Experienced Engineer, MBA student with youth exercise interests
Market Potential • The product will be targeted toward disabled and obese children • Doctors and pediatricians • Rehabilitation centers
Work Completed • Determined specification needs and wants • Started work on initial prototypes • Researched ps 2 controller circuitry
Current Work • Meet with Tech Transfer • Order equipment to build first functional prototype • Circuit testing and design
Future Work • Analyzing the circuitry of other consoles • Finish functional prototype by end of January • Test effectiveness of machine by measuring calorie burn
