CST What is the Content Specialty Test? • • • A more rigorous subject specific test Consists of multiple-choice questions and a written assignment To assess knowledge and skills in the subject in the certificate sought.

Multi-Subject CST 1 Exam for each Grade Level: • • Early Childhood Education Birth-Grade 2 Childhood Education Grades 1 -6 Middle Childhood Education Grades 5 -9 Adolescent Generalist Grade 7 -12

The Multi-Subject CST tests the knowledge of English Language Arts/Literacy, Mathematics and Arts and Sciences or Science and Social Studies. Candidates must pass all three parts. If a candidate does not pass one part, they may retake that portion of the test.

Who will Fall Under the New Exam Requirements?

If applying for certification on or after May 1, 2014, the new exams will need to be taken. Those candidates who apply on or before April 30, 2014 but do not meet all requirements prior to May 1, 2014 will be required to pass the new exams

School District Leader Current New School District Leader Assessment Part 1 and Part 2 EAS – If completing NYS Approved Teacher Prep. Program and apply on or after 5/1/2015 or If completing Teacher Prep. Program from another state on or after 5/1/2014

Dignity for All Students Act (D. A. S. A. ) As of January 1, 2014, all candidates who apply for a new certificate or license will be required to complete a 6 -hour D. A. S. A. workshop
