Online Learning Research Problems (National Center for Education Statistics, 1999; Phipps & Merisotos, 1999; Wisher et al. , 1999). n n n Anecdotal evidence; minimal theory. Questionable validity of tests. Lack of control group. Hard to compare given different assessment tools and domains. Fails to explain why the drop-out rates of distance learners are higher. Does not relate learning styles to different technologies or focus on interaction of multiple technologies.
