EUROREGIONAL MARINE RENEWABLE ENERGY STRATEGY 1. STRATEGIC DIAGNOSIS: § Wave sector § The need to cooperate § Raise awareness Wake Energy Akitania-Euskadi 2. BUILDING A NETWORK: § Create an euroregional network § Differential advantage § Change from pure competition to cooperation From Seanergies to Seanergy 3. ANCHORING OF THE STRATEGY : § Consolidation of the collaborations § Blue Growth § Euroregional Value Chains Blue Sare Acoustic Around Ocean Energy

WAKE Project: steps towards joint capacities for wave energy exploitation in Aquitaine-Euskadi The main objectives were to take the first coordinated steps by exchanging experiences, creating synergies and generating good practices and opportunities, promote strategic orientation, and providing detailed information on the resource and the appropriate technologies needed. Partners: • AZTI-Tecnalia • Hasiera-Université du Pays Basque (Es) • Rivages Pro. Tech, Lyonnaise des Eaux (Fr) • Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (Fr)

From Seanergies to Seanergy The aim was to improve the competitiveness of both regions by identifying potential collaborations between both regions in the field of marine energy. 4 Technical workshops were organised in Bayonne, Bordeaux, San Sebastian and Bilbao, and were dedicated to : • Logistics and port infrastructures • Renewable marine energy research • Wind turbine foundations • Wind current energy • The potential of the euroregional industry was showcased at the International Seanergy EMR Biarritz (2016) Partners: • Blue. Sign Events • Cluster de la Energía Budget: 815 000€ 4 th Workshop (Bilbao) - photo credit Tecnalia

Acoustic Around Ocean Energy The aim was to support the development of a specific euroregional offer concerning marine renewable energies that will allow enterprises and entities of both territories, to position themselves as an international reference. Partners: • Cluster de la Energía País Vasco • Agglomération Côte Basque Adour Budget: 90 500€ The aim was to develop a standardized protocol for the acoustic impact of renewable energy converters. Partners: • Energie de la Lune • AZTI Tecnalia Budget: 100 000€
