EUROPEAN VALUES AND BEING PHYSICALLY ACTIVE THROUGH GAMES FOR A BETTER LIFE LAPTE GROS (“THICK MILK”) A GAME ORIGINATED FROM ROMANIA

“Lapte gros” is a popular game amongst Romanian children. It is a group game which requires more than 5 people in order to play. If the number of players is more than 5, the number of them must be an odd number. It can be played anywhere, but it is easier to play it outside, on the grass. You don’t need any materials in order to play it, making it accessible to everyone.

How to play 1. Positioning: One player will be the referee (who is also called “the pillow”) and the rest of the players will be split into two teams. After deciding who’s going to play first one of the teams sits in the following way: the first player, bent over, with his head in the referee’s hands. The next player bends behind the first player puts his head between the first player’s legs and so on, until all of the players are ready to play.

2. Every player of the other team has to jump, one at a time, on the back of one person from the other team. Every time someone jumps, they have to yell “Lapte gros!”. The players who have jumped must remain in their landing position (without moving backwards or forwards).

3. After every player from the second team has jumped, they have to maintain their position and the first player who has jumped has to show a number between 1 and 5 to the referee and the first team has to guess it.

4. The teams change roles and the game ends when: -The first team guesses the number; -One of the players who has jumped touches the ground; -One of the players doesn’t yell “Lapte gros!” before jumping; -There are more players that have to jump but they can’t because of the wrong positioning of the ones who jumped before.
