National Governance • ERDF Operational Programme ‘signed in June’, ESF to follow • Overarching ESIF Growth Programme Board now meeting in full - has Ministerial attendance - covers ERDF, ESF, EAFDR - series of sub-committees (including Smart Specialisation) • Recent issues: - Changes to Local ESIF Committees (transparency, clarity, risk registers, future review of membership) - Updates to Local ESIF Strategies by October 30 (to reflect ERDF OP but NOT transfers of money between priorities) - Big Lottery (social inclusion) and SFA (skills) have gone live with ESF project calls

ERDF update • 450 applications received in first tranche of calls, totalling £ 882

ERDF update • 450 applications received in first tranche of calls, totalling £ 882 m ERDF against value of £ 612 m (c 32% of total 2014 -2020 allocation) • ‘positive position but attrition to be expected’ • Innovation priority area particularly well subscribed, with 97 applications totalling £ 240 m (42% of total allocation) • London only region not to meet full innovation call value • Average ERDF value per application £ 2 m • ‘innovation centre in Liverpool and science park in Thames Valley’ • Funding agreements expected from October • Next ERDF round expected in July (deadline September) • Testbed?
