OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO OBJECTIVE OF 4 TH MEETING CONCERNING WP 04 • TO PRESENT THE PROPOSED DATABASE STRUCTURE • TO DISCUSS WITH ESS ABOUT THE DB FORM • TO CLARIFY ISSUES WITH CASE STUDY PARTNERS
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEPS Set up an on-line data base that can be used through the OPTIMA web. (COMPLETED) Identify the numerous water management technologies, techniques or methods. (ALMOST COMPLETED) Start with a subset proposition about the DB structure, fields, templates AND parameter list (COMPLETED) Develop few COMPLETE examples as a start. (ONGOING) Come into final agreement of TEMPLATES with model requirements – ESS. (ONGOING) Allow case study partners, that will eventually utilize the database, to enter some case specific data to the examples provided (NOT STARTED) Get feedback response by case study users. (NOT STARTED) Filling up the water technology database for each particular case study. (NOT STARTED) Model utilization by case study users, running different water technology optimization scenario schemes, performance evaluation, database corrections. (NOT STARTED)
DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 1 1. Set up an on-line data base that can be used through the OPTIMA web. (COMPLETED)
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 2 2. Identify the numerous water management technologies, techniques or methods (ALMOST COMPLETED) WATER TECHNOLOGIES IDENTIFIED YET a. WATER STRUCTURES Additional/bigger reservoirs, Additional dams, Artificial recharge of aquifers, Brackish / Desalination such as:
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO b. MEASURES FOR REDUCING DEMAND Domestic – Touristic: Low-volume flush toilets in hotels, Lowflow showerheads, Toilet tank volume displacement devices, Pressure reduction devices, Grey Water reuse landscaping, Xeriscaped landscape, etc………. . Industrial water recycling and reuse: Cooling / boiler feed water recirculation, Wash water recycling, Landscape irrigation, etc………. . Agriculture: Drip irrigation, Drought-tolerant plants, Drainage wastewater reuse, Municipal wastewater reuse, etc………. . c. MEASURE FOR ENHANCING SUPPLY Water transport – storage: Agricultural channel lining – covering, Agricultural/Drinking reservoir covering – lining, Channel piping, Drinking pipeline breaks/leakage control rehabilitation, Groundwater abstraction, Rainfall harvesting etc………. .
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO 42 water management technologies, INCLUDED IN THE WEB-BASE
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 3. EVERY WATER TECH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING FIELDS NAME of the technology (short, < 16 characters)
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 DESCRIPTION of EACH technology with the following FORMAT • • • Title Technology Description (Operation and Maintenance included) Critical Factors (i. e. those factors that would affect cost, operational efficiency and sustainability) • Sustainability (i. e. advantages/disadvantages) • Cost Indication (RANGE) • Performance OR Water Sustainability Contribution • Bibliography GOAL: GIVE GUIDANCE (SUGGESTIONS) TO THE USER FOR PERFORMANCE AND COST
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 LOCATION (case study (geographical restriction) this applies to, GENERIC for all case studies by default)
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 APPLICATION DOMAIN symbolic reference to:
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 TECHNOLOGY TYPE (annualized investment costs, in Euro) Unit investment cost - EUR Investment reference unit Unit operating cost - EUR Operating cost reference unit Technology Life Time Minimum implementation
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 WATER DEMAND LOSSES Demand reduction: % Consumptive use reduction: % Conveyance loss reduction: % Return flow loss reduction: %
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 WATER QUALITY BOD reduction: % Tracer reduction: %
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 3 WATER SUPPLY Incremental Water Supply
DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 4 4. A COMPLETE EXAMPLE FOR AN OPTIMIZATION SCENARIO TO START CHANNEL LINING – COMPACTED EARTH (CLAY) INCLUDING BASIC WATER % DEMAND REDUCTION VALUES AND BASIC CONSRTUCTION COST VALUES ALL WATER TECHS WILL BE SUITABLE COMPLETED STARTING FROM TECHS RELATED TO WATER DEMAND
DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEP 5 5. Come into final agreement with model requirements – ESS (NOT COMPLETED) POSSIBLY TEMPLATES OF THE DB WILL SLIGHLTY CHANGE SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN FINALISED
OPTIMA - WP 04 - Techno-economic data – INTERGEO DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT STEPS 6 -10 6. Allow case study partners, that will eventually utilize the database (AS A GUIDANCE TOOL), to enter some case specific data to the examples provided 7. Get feedback response by case study users. 8. Filling up the database and finally completing the web-based, water technology database for each particular case study. 9. Model utilization by case study users, running different water technology scenario schemes, performance evaluation, database corrections.
