EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region The first macro-regional strategy in Europe. Aiming at reinforcing cooperation within the region. The Strategy was approved by the European Council in 2009 The Strategy is divided into three objectives related to relates to a range of policy areas. • Policy Area on Maritime Safety & Security • •

Policy Area on Maritime Safety & Security • Denmark and Finland serve as Policy Area Coordinators (PACs) for the strategy’s Policy Area on Maritime Safety and Security • We have undertaken to initiate projects and maintain a policy dialogue on behalf of the eight EU Member States of the Baltic Sea Region • The actual work is jointly carried out by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) and the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) • The coordination work is partly funded by the Baltic Sea Region Programme

Common information sharing environment CISE • CISE is a set of specifications for interoperability Once Member States implement them, information will be easier to share. • CISE will not impose any organisational constraints • Member States are free to choose their service providers and consumers. • CISE must make it possible for information providers to change their service offering. • These specifications will be also based on the work of the EUCISE 2020 Project. http: //www. eucise 2020. eu 3. 6. 2021 Finnish Transport Safety Agency 20
