Traditional and Remote Learning ● Traditional Learning will take place on campus every day. EHS teachers will commit to ● ● using multiple methods of instructional delivery in order to have the students better prepared in the event we have to transition to a blended format. Remote will be 100% online with a structure in place to ensure progress. All remote students are assigned to regular teachers to prepare for their possible return after trial period or after nine weeks. Remote students will work from home at their own pace using the Schools PLP curriculum with oversight from a highly qualified facilitator at EHS. Students working from home in either remote setting or blended (closure) are expected to login daily. If there is a need for content specific questions to be answered the student should email their subject facilitator prior to emailing their classroom assigned teacher.

Starting a Traditional School Day ● ● ● EHS will be on a non-alternating traditional block schedule with four classes the first semester and four different classes the second semester. All students will begin the day in the EHS gym unless they plan to eat breakfast at which point they will initially report to the lunchroom. Per Governor Ivey’s orders students and staff alike will wear masks upon entering the buildings. Students who are eating breakfast will do so in a socially distanced setting and will remain there until they are dismissed to go to their first block class. Students will then be dismissed in waves to report to their first block course. Administration, Teachers, and staff will facilitate this first transition in an effort to make sure social distancing takes place.

What will traditional class look like? ● Students in a traditional classroom will be seated socially distanced as much as possible based on classroom sizes. ● Students will be seated at desks or tables facing in one direction and will remain in that seat every time they report to that class. ● Seating areas will be cleaned after every class. ● Each classroom will have a hand sanitizing station that will be utilized at the beginning and at the end of the class. ● Class transitions will be staggered so that every student is not in the hallway at the same time. ● Electives and PE will still be offered using the best practices guidelines that have been set forth by the state.

Safety ● The office beside the nurse’s station will be the designated a quarantine area for EHS. ● Any student sent to the nurse MUST have a nurse pass to avoid crosstraffic with possible infected students (no drop-in visits). ● Any student with a fever of 100. 4 or higher will be sent home immediately. Parents are expected to check temperatures and symptoms at home before school. ● Face shields are provided for teachers. ● All faculty/staff absences must be reported to Dr. Hall or his designee via email, text, or phone call. ● See Flow Chart for faculty and students with positive tests.

Restrooms and Transition Times ● Students will be allowed to use the bathrooms as needed and these areas will be monitored during transitions to ensure social distancing takes place. ● Restrooms will be cleaned multiple times, periodically, throughout the day. ● No water fountains will be on during school, students should bring their own or purchase a drink from the vending machine ● There will not be established break times so students will be allowed to grab a snack or bring one from home to eat once they arrive at their next classroom.

Lunch Procedures ● Per guidelines, the EHS lunchroom will operate on 50% capacity through the lunch periods. ● Tables will be arranged in a way that students will all face in one direction and there will be open seats between each student. ● Lunch schedules will be adjusted to allow for this to take place and keep us under the 50% limit. ● Traffic flow through the lunchroom. Students will enter in entrance in front of the office and the departing students will leave out of the other side of the lunchroom.

Internet Access ● After recent purchases Etowah High School is now a “ 1 to 1” school meaning every classroom has 30 dedicated student laptops. ● Since we now have sufficient devices students will no longer be allowed to use personal devices the ACS-BYOD network. ● If they have a device and want to use their own device they must now use their own data. ● Updated internet accessibility has been extended to the parking lots at EHS meaning if a family needs internet access they can now park in the parking lot after hours to use that WIFI network.

End of the Day ● Students will dismiss in waves just like the rest of the day and students will immediately either go to the car line, go to the bus, or to their own vehicle to leave campus. ● Classrooms, bathrooms, and other common areas will be cleaned at the conclusion of each school day. ● Handwashing stations will also be checked daily to ensure sufficient product is in the station for the next school day.

Important Points of Emphasis ● ● Remote Learning will be significantly different than in the previous Spring semester. Grades will count and students will be held accountable to complete the work assigned to them through the Schools PLP platform. In the event we have to transition out of a traditional method of instruction we will go to a blended model where classroom teachers will then facilitate lessons through Schools PLP and or Google Classroom. Students who select remote learning have until September 3 rd to decide to stick with remote or come back to traditional. Once that deadline passes students will be committed for the remainder of the nine weeks. Please take into account that EHS is now running a traditional block schedule and classes taken during the first semester will conclude at Christmas break and new classes will begin for each student in the Spring semester. In order for students to be successful in their remote courses it is imperative that students complete work daily.
