Ethics in Experimentation
1. Briefly explain the five General Principles which are required in every psychological research project. a) Beneficence (do good) & Nonmaleficence (do not harm) b) Fidelity (strict observance of duties) & Responsibility c) Integrity (have sound moral character) d) Justice (practice just conduct) e) Respect for Rights & Dignity (privacy & self respect)
Essentially it comes down to four guidelines: 1) Obtain informed consent 2) Protect from harm and/or discomfort 3) Maintain confidentiality 4) Debrief subjects (explain purpose, offer services, etc. afterwards)

Examine Section 8. 09 and summarize the APA’s guidelines for using animals in psychological research. a) Acquire, care for & dispose of animals within state & federal laws b) Consideration for health & humane treatment c) Minimize discomfort, infection, illness & pain d) Procedure should have justified value e) Rapid death with little pain in accordance with laws
