Ethics in Experimentation

1. Briefly explain the five General Principles which are required in every psychological research project. a) Beneficence (do good) & Nonmaleficence (do not harm) b) Fidelity (strict observance of duties) & Responsibility c) Integrity (have sound moral character) d) Justice (practice just conduct) e) Respect for Rights & Dignity (privacy & self respect)

Essentially it comes down to four guidelines: 1) Obtain informed consent 2) Protect from harm and/or discomfort 3) Maintain confidentiality 4) Debrief subjects (explain purpose, offer services, etc. afterwards)

2. Look at Section 3. 10 on informed consent and summarize the guidelines that must be followed. a) Use reasonable language b) Obtain consent from a legally authorized person c) Document consent d) Provide info about mandated services I allow Skinner pate to partici in the AP Psych nt experime
