Ethics by definition is the morals, and beliefs that govern a person or groups views. Ethics in regards to business is a very morally trying topic. Being able to walk a morally right line while also running a business is something that only a few people are able to correctly do. Numerous companies have fallen to their own devices because of greed and a corrupt moral beliefs.
Best Buy recently faced a corporate scandal when it’s Chief Executive Brian Dunn was faced with allegations that proved to be true about a “Extremely close personal relationship” with a 29 -year-old secretary. This is an example of a laps in ethics of the leadership of a well-known company. British Petroleum BP’s chief John Browne was also found to be ethically corrupt. He was found to be lying to a judge to prevent things about his personal life from getting out to the public. This is an another example of how personal beliefs and self-preservation can effect the way that people view their companies. In conclusion These two scandals are a prime example of how ethics and morals are conflicted in a business. The two companies were not able walk a straight and arrow line while also staying in the black. They thought that their success (and personal gain) would be more if they took their lives into their own hands.
