Summary Health insurance has become a major issue and the government consistently takes advantage of it. This industry feeds of the fear people have of not being financially able to cover their medical bills. It has become nationally known that lower class American citizens struggle endlessly to make ends meet. They are suffering due to private insurers robbing them of their hard earned money and their worth as Americans; focusing more on the hard earned money that is continually flowing in as millions of people continue to suffer in silence.
Claim Our current health insurance system disproportionately impacts middle and lower class American citizens. Furthermore, a universal healthcare system could better benefit everyone.
Concession #1 Not all people in America are applicable for health care or are able to afford it. ● The average family of four spent six about $20, 721 on health care, that’s more than seven times what the average household spend annually on gas ● This year alone the American people will spend about $2. 8 trillion in healthcare ● Over 49 million people are without healthcare ● It has been estimated that hospitals overcharge Americans by about $10 billion every single year ● 58% reported that they or a family member had problems paying medical bills in the last year ● The US is the only industrialized nation in the world without universal care.
Concession #2 Private insurers benefit more than low income families and citizens. ● In the US healthcare relies on individuals who purchase health insurance either from their employer or from a private health insurance company. ● There is an additional tax on employers would choose expensive insurance plans. ● Insurers make annual changes to the prices of their plans to factor in their own cost of doing business. ● In the medical field, technologies are growing rapidly and though they improve healthcare they also push up the costs.
Concession #3 Trump's administration is pushing Americans to private insurers President Trump's plan is to make cuts to health care programs and diminish access health care services. Private servers rob the low income majority
Cons (counter argument) of Universal Health Care ● ● ● This type of health care often results in long wait times for patients. Those who have a higher income may complain about their money being used to help pay for the healthcare of others when it should be going to their own healthcare. People may abuse the system and seek care for conditions that do not require a trip to the hospital. Increasing the rules and regulations Increasing taxes The government would have control and they may need to make cuts in other areas to compensate for the need of healthcare
However…. ● ● It allows people who cannot afford Healthcare to have access to the services they need. It gives all citizens the basic health care services and does not discriminate against those who are unemployed or have other difficulties. It simplifies the process to get healthcare and the entire population contributes to the cost Health care Citizens can get free treatments for basic needs, meaning this can help reduce the spread of infections or diseases and everyone can be more healthy. Universal health care would allow everyone to be under one system and therefore doctors can focus more on the patients and less on insurance problems and other factors.
