Significant Safety Achievements- 9/18 • • • The EAEI Safety Stand Down event was completed on 9/27. Both office and lab areas were visited by three walkthrough teams. It was a successful event and a useful list of corrective actions is being compiled. A survey of all lab areas that use peroxide former and time sensitive chemicals was completed. Action items were identified and a number of containers are being sent for disposal. Field checks are being conducted to ensure everything is labeled/tested as per the survey responses. Old chemicals were identified and disposed in the 977 -271 Potter lab area. A Safety Alert was sent to all glove box users regarding hazardous waste requirement inside glove boxes. This is a follow-up to the recent City of Berkeley inspection. I gave two safety presentations at the County of Santa Clara’s 33 rd annual Safety Seminar event.

Start the lab area seismic protection self-assessment project. Continue Work Activities annual renewals/EHS collaboration. There are still a number in the que. Continue efforts at improving the procurement process for NRTL listing of electronic equipment. Complete a self-assessment report for the recent survey of peroxide former chemicals in ETA lab areas. Complete glove box user training regarding hazardous waste storage requirements inside glove boxes. Continue old chemical clean-outs in ETA lab areas. Hydrogen sensor calibration in 70 -257 is scheduled.
