Significant Safety Achievements- 3/19 • The Lab Area Safety Lead self-assessment project is underway. A survey has gone out to each safety lead. Results will be compiled with recommendations. • A draft “Researcher Guide for Procurement of Electrical Equipment” has been sent out for final comment by the LBNL Electrical Safety Committee. • I participated in a “Electrical Equipment NRTL Listing” training class for Procurement personnel. This is part of our efforts at improving how equipment is brought into LBNL. • We completed our quarterly Lab Area Safety Lead quarterly meeting. There was a lot of good discussion regarding safety in the lab areas. • Annual Work Activity renewals are underway. A number were renewed and a few more are pending EHS collaboration. This will continue of the next 4 months. • I served as a group leader/judge at the annual Contra Costa County Science Fair. I judged biology projects for students in the 7 -9 grades. • I attended the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) annual symposium.

Short Term Safety Outlook 4/19 • Start the Lab Area Safety Lead self-assessment survey.

Short Term Safety Outlook 4/19 • Start the Lab Area Safety Lead self-assessment survey. The survey questions are ready to go out. • Continue efforts at improving the procurement process for NRTL listing of electronic equipment. A draft “Researcher Guide” is out for comment. • The upcoming ESDR safety stand down event is scheduled for 4/10/19. An “old chemical” clean-out is planned. • We will have a quarterly hazardous waste Satellite Accumulation Area inspection on 4/19/19. • A DOE chemical safety assessment will be conducted the week of 4/29. • Complete the remaining few telecommute home office ergonomic assessments. • I will be giving a presentation on “Management of Time Sensitive Chemicals” at the annual Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association conference. • I will be participating in a lab area chemical safety assessment at the SLAC facility.
