Significant Safety Achievements- 3/17 • • The Oven/Furnace Self Assessment project report has been completed and submitted to OCA. Several Work Activities were renewed during March. A number were also updated in anticipation of many due for renewal in May. Followed up on the 70 -263 hood valve identification issue. A valve identified as nitrogen was connected to natural gas. Performed a survey of all 63 ETA hoods. Follow-up is being planned for survey results. A large old chemical clean-out was performed for the 62 -220, 246, 308, and 310 lab areas. A total of 211 containers were disposed. Disposal of cleaners, paints, and asphalt containers identified in the B 90 hallway storage cabinets was completed. Follow-up on PSD 0135 “Emergency Management Awareness” training continues. ETA started with 410 assignments and now has only 7 assignments that remain pending. Coordinated repair of hood flammables cabinet door repairs in 62 -320, 70 -269 and 70 -279.

Short Term Safety Outlook 4/17 • • • Many of the Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities are due for semiannual/annual renewal over the next 2 months. Continue follow-up on the list of open “Failed” and “Conditionally Accepted” electrical equipment items. Follow-up on remaining items identified from the B 70 fire inspection. This includes replacement of plastic hydrogen gas lines. Start the Telecommuter Ergonomic Self-Assessment project. We will be working in conjunction with several other divisions. Follow-up on the action items identified from the recent ETA hood survey. This includes pipe labels, gas valve repairs, and light repairs. Continue participation in the Hazardous Waste Requisition improvement team. Participate in the effectiveness review team for the Electrical Safety Improvement Plan (ESIP). Coordinate the annual non-returnable gas cylinder disposal project. Complete the quarterly SAA inspections of ETA lab areas.
