Significant Safety Achievements- 2/17 • • The Oven/Furnace Self Assessment project report draft has been completed and is currently undergoing review/comment prior to submittal. Work Activity actions in February: – – • Annual Renewals- 4 New- 2 (Ammonia Combustion; B 90 CO 2 Tracer) Semiannual review of personnel with “opt out” status Semiannual review of work activity assignments by Activity Leads Safety Alerts distributed in February: – Overloaded Power Strip Hazard – Hazardous Material Container Size – Trip Hazard Corrected • • • Follow-up on PSD 0135 “Emergency Management Awareness” training continues. ETA started with 410 assignments and now has 91 assignments pending. These will be counted in our metrics starting next month. Two special EHS 0027 “Safety Walk Around” training classes were held in B 70. A number of old nitric acid and sulfuric acid bottles were disposed in B 70. This was an effort to ensure the building stays within fire code limits.
Short Term Safety Outlook 3/17 • Submit the final report for the Oven/Furnace Self Assessment project. – Generate CATS items for findings – Follow-up on issues identified • • • Many of the Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities are due for semiannual/annual renewal over the next 2 months. Continue follow-up on the list of open “Failed” and “Conditionally Accepted” electrical equipment items. Follow-up on remaining items identified from the B 70 fire inspection. Start the Telecommuter Ergonomic Self-Assessment project. We will be working in conjunction with several other divisions. Develop a work plan to address recommendations from the recent OIC “Ensuring Safety in Research” report. – Provide support for the new ESDR safety committee – Assist each division with management Safety Walk Arounds • Ensure all pending assignments for the PSD 0135 “General Emergency Preparedness” course are completed before the end of March.
