Significant Safety Achievements- 2/18 • • Work on the new ETA-0010 “New Hire Safety Orientation” class has started. This will be a classroom-style course offered several times each month. I completed the two day “SAFE” Safety Academy for Excellence training class. I found the training very useful. I have been providing assistance with the electrical inspection of the new Splat Quencher equipment in 70 -108. More follow-up on modifications is needed. A “Lessons Learned” was prepared and submitted regarding the ORNL sample shipment issue. It is pending EHS approvals. I completed a full day ”EHS Professionals” training class at the UC campus. I conducted a webinar for the Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association (SESHA) regarding ”Electrical Safety from a Research Perspective”. It was well received. A number of old chemicals and samples from the 70 -108 glove boxes were sent out for disposal.

Short Term Safety Outlook 3/18 • • • A safety stand down for ESDR

Short Term Safety Outlook 3/18 • • • A safety stand down for ESDR is scheduled for April 10. Agenda and format established. The final plan has been communicated to PI’s. Start the lab area seismic protection self-assessment project. A check sheet has been developed and reviewed by the assessment team. Implement the new ETA-0010 “New Hire Safety Orientation” class. Assist with the set-up of the new Splat Quencher in 70 -108. Continue to assist with old BTUS equipment clean-outs in B 46 and B 71. Address the large list of “conditionally accepted” electrical equipment. Address personnel identified as “high risk” and/or “constant discomfort” listed in the ergonomics database. Old chemical clean-outs are being planned. We already have a number of containers collected. Complete the annual review and update of the ETA Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Plan.
