Significant Safety Achievements- 4/16 • • The WPC Activity Lead Self-Assessment project final report

Significant Safety Achievements- 4/16 • • The WPC Activity Lead Self-Assessment project final report has been drafted. The draft is undergoing review and comments prior to being sent out for signatures. The Engineered Nanomaterial Self-Assessment report has been submitted. Many of the Level 3 Work Activities are currently undergoing their annual review and re-approval. These are all pending EHS collaboration prior to being finalized. The quarterly Satellite Accumulation Area (SAA) inspections were completed. An electrical safety survey of all ETA equipment racks was completed. Several issues were identified and are being tracked through the CATS system. Annual laser safety inspections were completed by the LSO in lab areas 70 -157 and 70 -173. Safety Alerts were issued for: – Peroxide Formers – Chemical Hazard Pictograms • • • The old glove box in 70 -226 was disconnected and removed for salvage. This was a very old piece of equipment. Efforts continue in closing out “conditionally approved” and “failed” electrical equipment. Additional “old chemical” disposals were arranged in various lab areas in B 70.

Short Term Safety Outlook 5/16 • • Complete the WPC Activity Lead Self-Assessment final

Short Term Safety Outlook 5/16 • • Complete the WPC Activity Lead Self-Assessment final report. Ensure lab areas are prepared for the upcoming DOE NFPA 45 chemical safety assessment. Complete the annual renewal of 15 pending Level 3 Work Activities. All require EHS collaboration. We are updating each with “Daily ISM” and “Side Work” requirements. Assist with the old glove box removal in 62 -246. Continue to address all remaining ETA equipment on the electrical equipment “conditionally authorized” and “failed” lists. Continue removal of old equipment from B 70 hallway cabinets. Items that are retained will require inspection/repair. Continue old chemical clean-outs in B 70. A number of old “lecture bottle” gas cylinders are being scheduled for disposal.
