Significant Safety Achievements- 4/18 • The new ETA 0010 “ETA New Hire Safety Orientation” class has been officially rolled out. o o o • • • Course materials finalized and now available On-line calendar of classes offered and linked to the BLT website ETA 0010 training requirement added to over 70 ETA Work Activities All ETA personnel with start dates before 4/30/18 were “grandfathered” Course announced to ETA personnel and scheduled out for the next three months We had a successful ESDR Safety Stand Down. Two management teams performed walkthroughs of B 62 and B 70 lab areas. Lab areas generated “report cards” and posted for management review and comment. The quarterly SAA hazardous waste inspections were completed. A new “Unattended Experiment” tracking form was developed and distributed to researchers. A number of old chemicals from 62 -100 B were disposed. I attend the Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association (SESHA) conference in Scottsdale, AZ. I gave a presentation and also participated with Fellow status responsibilities.
Short Term Safety Outlook 5/18 • • • Start the lab area seismic protection self-assessment project. The new ETA-0010 “New Hire Safety Orientation” classes are now being offered. We have 15 Level 3 Work Activities undergoing annual renewals/EHS reviews with more coming. This is surge time for annual renewals! Assist with the set-up of the new Splat Quencher and XPS equipment in 70 -108. Complete the annual review and update of the ETA Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Plan. Assist with the clean-out/transfer of chemicals from CYR groups leaving the Potter lab areas. Continue follow-up on repair of conditionally accepted and failed electrical equipment. Follow-up on issues identified from the ESDR Safety Stand Down, BTUS Management Walkthrough, and SAA Hazardous Waste Inspections. Complete the removal of an abandoned hood located outside of Building 60.
