Characteristics O Students are deeply involved in their work. O Students know what is expected of them and are generally successful. O There is relatively little wasted time, confusion or disruption O The climate of the classroom is work-oriented, but relaxed and pleasant
How do you implement this? O Effective teachers are ready O Effective teachers have the room ready O Effective teachers have the work ready O Effective teachers have themselves ready
How to establish standards of behavior O Students should be aware of what constitutes desirable behavior, minor disruptions, and unacceptable behavior, and they should also know what responses are expected for each type of behavior. O Teacher and students should discuss together what behaviors fall under each category and discuss posible consequences
O Arranging the room O Seating Charts O Grade Book O Greeting the students O Your first set of directions O Getting the students to work right away O Making expectations known
