A Shared Vision for Technology Integration • Coordinate schhol and district planning, and involve teachers and other personnel at all levels. • Budget yearly amounts for technology ppurchases, and plan for sustainability. • Emphasize contiuining teacher training. • Match technology to curriculum needs.
Standards and Curriculum Support • Framework identify higher order thinking skills and digital citizenship critical for life long learners in global society. • It is critical to situate technology skills in content area curriculm in ways that technology and content area standards support each other.
Required Policies • The following policies are required to ensure appropriate behavior, safety, equitable treatments of all students, financial assistance, incentives, and accountability at all levels of integration: • 1. Online use policies • 2. legal/ ethical use policies • 3. Policies to ensure equity • 4. Financial assistance, incenties, and accountability policies.
Access to Hardware, Software, and Other Resources • Finding funding • Purchasing hardware and software • Setting up and maintaining physical facilities
Skilled Personnel • Due to the frequent change in technology resources and appliations, continuing professional development in an essewntial condition for effective technology integration: • Hands on integration emphasis • Training over time • Modeling, mentoring, and coaching • Just in time training
Technical Assistance • Each teacher needs training in troubleshooting procedures • Schools must support teachers by providing and maintaining resources vital to classroom use. • Offer PD in using resources effectively
Appropriate Teaching and Assessment Models • • Four different levels of integration (SAMR) -Substitution Augmentation Modification Redefinition Assessment practices will vary with technology integration models. The most critical factor is matching the teaching strategy with an appropriate assessment strategy.
Engaged Community • Technology has the most impact on achieving educational goals when schools involve the entire local community. • Ways to involve the entire community: • -Hold public forums • -bringing community members/ stakeholders into the classrooms • -foster parternerships • Not only does this extends the school’s technology budget it also brings many talents together working towards a common purpose: school improvement.
• Access to Hardware, Software, and Other Resources would be our forte. Our school is a Connect. ED school. We have access to technology, PD, etc. • Engaged Community is an area we need to work on. We need to do a better job of involving the community.
