USBE ESSA Statement • The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) offers an opportunity to articulate and implement the foundational components for this strategic vision in connection to federal funding and accountability measures. ESSA allows education leaders and stakeholders to rethink their own accountability, funding, school improvement and grant-making systems by gathering input from the people who know their state best.

Action Plan • We are organizing stakeholders who believe in a great public school for all students to determine priorities so that all students have the resources and opportunities to succeed by identifying and implementing ESSA possibilities by. • We hope to accomplish this by using an opportunity audit to determine the stakeholders needs and priorities.
What happened…. . • Met with Assistant Superintendent on November 3 rd to offer assistance in the development of the ESSA plan. • She indicated that she had just been trained by USBE that day. • CSD was waiting for USBE plan before the development of their own plan.
Steps to Completion • Hold District meeting to inform (completed) • CEA sent out an opportunity audit to teachers to determine testing frequency and significance (completed) • CSD, as part of negotiations agreement, will collect a list of all district tests administered to students 2016 -2017 through Instructional Services Department
Opportunity Audit • Focus groups on priorities in collaboration with CSD • Create a summary of findings from focus groups • Presentation to Stakeholders with time for feedback
