Pequea Valley’s Mission Statement The Pequea Valley School District will strive to create an "Ideal Learning Environment" that inspires each learner to excel.
What is it? Multi-player video games, played competitively 2 nd most watched sport in the world $1. 8 billion in global revenue projected by 2022 More viewers watched the World Final of League of Legends than the Game 7 of the NBA Finals (43 million viewers vs. 31 million viewers) School teams compete in games – players specialize in a game, much like traditional athletes specialize in a sport
Why do it? Reaches a style of learner we are not currently providing an outlet for at Pequea Valley – incentive for grades, attendance, behavior, etc. through a code of conduct This reaches a “non-traditional” athlete Helps with collaboration/teamwork, developmental learning, communication skills, problem solving, social skills, and more Inclusive of everyone and anyone. College opportunities and possible career path opportunities
Local Schools with Esports Teams Conestoga Valley Annville Cleona Donegal Elizabethtown Ephrata Columbia Lampeter Strasburg Lancaster Catholic Manheim Township Penn Manor Solanco And more…
Things to Know: NASEF and the Emerald Foundation are assisting in starting Esports teams all over Lancaster County All games competed in through NASEF are approved by the Orange County Board of Education The General Manager, at first, would be paid by the Emerald Foundation The goal would be to compete in one game this spring semester as a pilot program Based on interest, we could compete in more games moving forward (ex. Conestoga Valley)
What we would need… General Manager (advisor/coach) Space (for team room, viewing area for spectators) Hard-wiring of that room for best possible gameplay in terms of Internet speed and reliability Equipment for 12 players Furniture for the team room Jerseys (the GM is going to put in for an Ed Foundation Grant)
