Listening Culture Reading Writing Speaking

Listening v. Students listen to me & to each other speak Spanish v. They also listen to music, dialogs, narratives, radio broadcasts, podcasts…

Speaking v. Students speak Spanish everyday as soon as they come to class (95%) v. Students will make presentations on famous Hispanic people, art work, cities… v. They will answer questions on specific topics to prepare for the AP exam v“En el Café” chats v. Dialogs v. Phone calls to Señora every month

Writing Students write to practice grammar topics, vocabulary, verb tenses, idioms… v. Write essays on a given topic with a week to prepare it v. Students complete comprehension exercises on the readings in the textbook v. Write emails and brief dialogs v Students write 2 minute cultural presentations to present to the class

Reading v. Students read samples of literature from Spain and Latin-America v. They will also read 2 small books independently, answer questions for homework, followed by classroom discussions v. We will read current event articles from different countries, recipes, and many more authentic writings

Culture v. Students will be exposed to the Spanish culture through movies, music, pod casts, art work… v. They will read articles from newspapers and magazines on line several times a month v. Students will prepare presentations about famous people, places, traditions…

Hispanic National Honor Society Selection for membership is reserved for our top students and is based on a variety of criteria including an A- or above in Spanish 3; a cumulative High School GPA of 3. 2 or higher; and continuing to study Spanish in the 2019 -2020 school year.
