ESOL CODES Hello! Many of you are wondering just what the heck the codes

ESOL CODES Hello! Many of you are wondering just what the heck the codes mean next to your student names. Thanks for asking- here are your answers: LP= Pending; student has been identified as a possible ESOL student. Placement tests will determine the student’s status.

ESOL CODES �LY= Student is identified as an active ESOL student; ESOL students are

ESOL CODES �LY= Student is identified as an active ESOL student; ESOL students are entitled to many accommodations as described in the Meta Consent Decree (law), including extra time on assignments, tests, standardized tests and translations of certain test instructions and to use a dictionary of their native language and English.

ESOL CODES �LF= This code means an active ESOL student has met the criteria

ESOL CODES �LF= This code means an active ESOL student has met the criteria to be exited from the ESOL program. They are no longer entitled to the accommodations of an active ESOL student. LF, to me, means they are being ‘followed. ’ It really means their grades are being monitored for two school years. If at any time during those two years their grades indicate they still need more support, they can be reinstated as an active ESOL student.
