The best place to put them is in My Documents ESC Mobile Client.
Configuring the Mobile Client Part 1 The ESC Mobile Settings prompt is asking how you want to connect using the Mobile Client. Here’s a breakdown of each field: User name – The user name that’s associated to this tech in ESC. Password – The password for that user in ESC. Server ID – This should have been given to you by your sales person or an ESC Support Technician if they assisted you with the download. Server – Do not change this. It should always be left at secure. esconline. cc.
Configuring the Mobile Client Part 2 Warehouse Number – You can change the default warehouse number that is used when creating invoices for this tech. Auto-push status code changes – This will send the status code changes back to the office in real time if selected. You must have a wireless connection for this to work. Receipt Style Printer – If you’re using a receipt printer to print invoices you need to enable this so the Mobile Client knows when to cut off the invoice. Allow Credit Card Authorization – You can only use this feature if you’re using the Merchant Services integration in ESC. This allows you to charge credit cards in the field. Please contact your sales person if you’d like more information on this.
Configuring the Mobile Client 3 You may download your inventory list to the mobile unit for use on invoices. Click on the download button and then click on Inventory. Before your technicians can download any inventory onto their mobile device, you must associate at least one price book with them. This is accomplished by going into the Mobile Server properties and then clicking the desired technician and then clicking on the desired Price Books. Continue this process for each technician. This enables you to keep your price books small and easy to search through, while still ensuring each technician has access to the parts that they might use in their job.
Configuring the Mobile Client 4 How GPS Functions with ESC The GPS capability with ESC is very limited at this time. It will only allow tracking of the Nav. Man (or other GPS attachable sleeve device) with a PDA device to a limited extent on the Electronic Dispatch Board (EDB) within ESC. If GPS is used with Map. Point installed and enabled in ESC, a customer can go to the EDB, right click on a call under a tech with GPS enabled and select the plot route. This will create two routes. The first route will be the normal route that Map. Point creates without regard to the GPS info. To make the second route Map. Point will create a point for each GPS reading in the current day and then draw straight lines between in sequential time order. The resulting line could be very jagged and will show no regard to the actual route taken. It will only show where the truck was at the given time. If a tech turns off the PDA attached to the GPS (which supplies its power), then tracking will be disabled during this time period.
Configuring the Mobile Client 5 Card Swipe Settings This screen allows you to enter the connection information to the credit card reader device. For laptops all you have to do is select whether you’re using the Mag. Tek reader or Xplore Xswipe device. For the handhelds it’s a little more in-depth where you’ll need to specify which COM port the device is on, it’s baud rate, etc. The next slide will show the generic settings for the 2 credit card reader devices we support for the handhelds.
