What is ERP • According to Moss – An ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning system is essentially a suite of business applications that are integrated together to assist a company in collecting, managing, and reporting information core business processes – These business applications, called modules in Open. Create a Virtual Machine • First we need to acquire the Debian version of Linux • To do this • Open a browser and go to – www. debian. org • At the top of their home page click on – Getting Debian Copyright 2014 Kenneth M. Chipps Ph. D. www. chipps. com 15

Create a Virtual Machine • Look below the Tiny CDs, USB sticks, etc. heading for the i 386 image • This is the image that we need to install on an Intel processor based computer that we have here • Be sure to remember where you saved your copy because you will need it to perform your Linux installation Copyright 2014 Kenneth M. Create a Virtual Machine • Once the virtual machine is created click the Start icon • When you click the Next button you will be presented with options for the location of the installation disk • Click the little folder icon on the right side of the Media Source window and navigate to where the installation ISO file is located and then click Next to begin the process Copyright 2014 Kenneth M. Install the Operating System • Click – Start • The Linux installation will begin • In general take all of the defaults • For the hostname use – Open. ERP • For the domain use – example. com Copyright 2014 Kenneth M. Chipps Ph. D. www. chipps. com 23
Install the Operating System • There is no proxy • For all the passwords use – password • On the package selection screen uncheck all of the options • Log into Linux using – root – password Copyright 2014 Kenneth M. Chipps Ph. D. www. chipps. com 24
Install Open. ERP • Now that the virtual machine has been setup and the operating system loaded, we need to install Open. ERP • First, check to see if the operating system has an IP address • At the Linux command prompt enter – ifconfig or if the output scrolls off the screen ifconfig | more and the space bar to see it all Copyright 2014 Kenneth M.
